3Thimphu – Punakha Sightseeing▾
Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3,140m) for panoramic Himalayan views and the 108 chortens, and visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang. Stop for tea at the Dochula Pass Cafeteria, then continue to a traditional farmhouse in Lobesa Village. After lunch, walk through paddy fields to Chhimi Lhakhang, the "Divine Madman's" fertility temple built in 1499.
Dinner & overnight: Meri Puensum or Zhingkham Resort4Punakha Sightseeing▾
Walk through upper Punakha's paddy fields (about 1 hour) to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Lhakhang for sweeping valley views. Visit Punakha Dzong, set on the island where the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers meet, then cross Bhutan's longest suspension bridge (350m). In the evening, visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhendup Lhakhang Nunnery for panoramic views over Punakha and Wangdue.
Dinner & overnight: Meri Puensum or Zhingkham Resort5Punakha – Paro▾
Head back to Paro through picturesque valleys and farmhouses. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong), home to over 3,000 artifacts spanning 1,500+ years; Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest shrines dating to the 7th century; and Rinpung Dzong, Paro's fortress-monastery.

Drive about 30 minutes to the trailhead, then hike roughly 1–1.5 hours to the viewpoint for a spectacular look at Taktsang Monastery ("Tiger's Nest") clinging to the cliffside. Continue up to the monastery itself (about 1 more hour), then walk back down, stopping at the viewpoint cafeteria for lunch. In the evening, unwind with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath at a Paro farmhouse — river rocks heated and placed in the bathwater to release minerals and ease sore muscles.
